The Zenit 12XP is called the “russian tank”. Manufactured by KMZ, in USSR between 1983 and 1992.

KMZ (Krasnogorsky Mekhanichesky Zavod) is a Russian company that is known for producing high-quality cameras and other optical instruments. The company was founded in 1942 and has a long history of producing innovative and reliable products.

The 12XP is a 35mm manual slr with almost 1kg of weight. Full metal body, hard and heavy, that’s why this camera is called the russian tank. Shutter speed between 1/30 and 1/500. Two led lights indicates a correct exposure and the light meter. Universal M42 mount, usually sold with and Helios-44N-4 1:2/58mm.

For release the film canister is necessary to push down the part that evolves the shutter release button. The Zenit 12XP is a cheap camera nowadays but is indeed a good camera for inexperienced film photographers.
